Uranium was first discovered by Martin Heinrich Klaproth a German chemist in 1789. What he found was not pure uranium but uranium dioxide. Eugène-Melchoir Péligot a French chemist was the first to isolate pure Uranium. The way he found it was by heating Uranium dioxide with Potassium in a Platinum crucible. Antoine Henri Becquerl was the first person to find a Radioactive element in 1896. Uranium
is generally used in nuclear power plants to make electricity and it is also used to make nuclear bombs. The element Uranium is named after the planet Uranus which is the 7th planet from the Sun

Uranium is a silvery metal at room temp. and is green when mixed with glass. Pure Uranium makes up only about 2-4 parts per million in the Earths crust. Uranium Carbanite and Pitchblende both have high concentrations of Uranium. The U.S., Canada, Australia and South Africa all have huge deposits of Uranium under them. Uranium is one of the most radioactive elements on earth. Radioactive elements are not the same a nucular elements. Radioactive elements produce nucular fusion which is something completely different than radioactivity. Also Uranium's isotopes decay into different elements, mainly Lead. Uranium will easily gives up 3-6 of its outer electrons.(I have no idea what that means!!)
